Homemade Pancake mix ingredients are simple. Although there are several pancake recipes below the base for the homemade pancakes starts here. Don’t be afraid to play around with the mix by adding other ingredients. Have fun with it!
- 1 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 1/3 Cup Milk
- Large Egg
- 3 Tablespoons Melted Butter
- In a Large Mixing Bowl combine the dry pancake ingredients including the sugar, baking powder and salt. Then pour your wet pancake ingredients including any items listed from the homemade pancake mixes below. Slowly mix the wet mixture into to the dry. Stir not whisk until “near” smooth.
Homemade Banana Pancakes
Use a fork to mash the 2 over ripe bananas which is incorporated into the mix above. The batter will be lumpier than usual and have a denser feel.
Thinly slice the single banana and chop walnuts to desired size top over hot banana flap jacks.
Homemade Blueberry Pancakes
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups blueberries
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Red White and Blue Pancakes
- 1 Pint Blueberries
- 1/2 quart Strawberry
- Whipped Cream
Prior to preparing the pancakes follow the compote instructions below using the blueberry and strawberries. For a less calories use fruit fresh.
Top with half red and half blue. Then put a nice wide strip of whipped cream down the center.
- 1/2 cup Pecans
- 1/2 cup Toasted Pecans
- 1 tbs Cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
Chop about half the pecans into small pieces. Include the pecan, cinnamon and brown sugar into the homemade pancake mix. Recipe Tip: Walnuts are a suitable substitute pancake.
Top fresh pancakes with the toasted pecans and syrup to taste.
How to Make Homemade Pancakes
Lets go over How to Make Homemade Pancakes now that we have decided on our mix. First choose your best skillet, cast iron or griddle. All cook pancakes easy, but make sure that you pick one with a large enough cooking area. You don’t want to end up cooking 2 or worse 1 pancake at a time, which makes for a delayed cooking time and leaves bellies hungry. A How to Homemade Tip if you only have a smaller cooking surface is to heat your home oven to 150-200 degree with a baking sheet in it. As you finish the pancakes place them in the oven to stay warm until all the pancakes are done. That way everyone can have pancakes together, including you!

Homemade pancakes compote is super easy. Honestly you don’t need to follow the recipe exactly, the cherry juice is my taste not yours. The homemade pancakes compote recipe could easily be changed to syrup, peach juice, blueberry juice etc..
- Cherry Juice
In a medium suace pan mix a quart of your favorite fruit, blueberries and strawberries work best. Lightly coat fruit with sugar. Add in a spoon of juice. Bring the compote to a boil. Then reduce heat to simmer, stirring occasionally.

- 3/4 Cup Organic Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup White Sugar
- Halfcup Water
- Spoonful of Corn Syrup
Bring the mix to a fast boil reducing the heat to simmer. Allow to cook until desired consistency. Mixture will thicken slightly as it cools. Serve warm or room temperature.
